If it was your kid's cell you were trying to reach them on, take it. If you're paying the bill (I assume) it's there for your convenience. Yes, it will be a drag for the week (or however long) but the next time they will answer.
Whenever my oldest son wouldn't return a phone call to mom, I would go online to my account and find the number he calls the most, inevitably the current girlfriend, and then call her. He called back almost instantaneously. Don't really have that problem anymore.
They are the enemy....do not hesitate to use unconventional methods to bring them around to your way of thinking. Taking the door off their rooms is a WAY effective catch-all way to get their attention. Keep it for a week or so.
I also like 'parole'....at the halfway mark of any punishment I would grant them parole, let them off the hook early but if they did the offense again within a month or two, they would have to start all over and do the full time. Never had to go back. they figured it out right quick.
